I will probably buy more... they were so delicious!

Hangin' Out

Drawing #48
Pen and watercolor

I must say I had much more fun with these clothes pegs than when I'm hanging out washing! I have a variety  and  some even have faces on them.... I didn't realise until I was sorting through them for this drawing. There maybe a drawing of those later!!!

Walkway Wildflowers

Drawing #46
Pen and watercolor

The Daily Paintworks challenge this week is about spring. Even though it's autumn in this part of the world these wildflowers come to mind when I think about spring....they are scattered along the side of the path. This is another part of the Estuary walkway where I often walk in the mornings...nice!!

Chillies

Drawing #45
Pen and watercolor

More food! Can't keep away from it...love both eating and painting it! Chillies are another favorite of mine...the bright colors look and taste great in a dish and add a bit of zing!!

Pears

Drawing #42
Pen and watercolor

These are the green pears I  was going to draw yesterday! I liked the way these were leaning different ways, pear body language  I called it!! Looks like they were trying to avoid each other! Time was a problem today and I needed something simple to draw...these were perfect... obviously I wasn't meant to do them yesterday!!

Figs

Drawing #41
Pen and watercolor

I bought these figs today and I'm having them for desert tonight...this is not the drawing I had in mind for today, I had some pears set up first.  That happens sometimes... especially if I have been to the market and find fruit I like, it never lasts long so I have to draw or paint it quickly!!

Olives and Brie Cheese

Drawing #38
Pen and watercolor

Late posting this one...had a busy day and went out for dinner tonight...no olives and brie though! I finished a small painting today that I will post tomorrow,  also some of my very late newsletter done! I have painted olives and cheese in oil but this is the first time in watercolor...I prefer the oil but it was a good exercise!

Drawing Tools

Drawing #31
Graphite and Pastel

This graphite pencil and drawing pen are two of my drawing tools! I have others but these are the two I seem to use most. The pen is a fine graphite and good for detail...and violet is one of my favorite colors!!

Lean on Me

Drawing #28
Pen and watercolor

Back to pen and watercolor! I like to mix things up...a change makes it interesting and stops me getting stuck and bored! I bought these eggplants at the market, they are a beautiful amethyst color,  quite different from the darker ones I usually buy.  I HAD to buy these ones...they look so good and taste good too...love them!!!

Garden Delights

Drawing #18
Pen and watercolor

These are the last of my yellow cherry tomatoes this season...I call them my garden delights. The bright yellow color looks so good in the garden and they taste even better!! It may seem like I'm not painting much but I'm working on shoe paintings for a gallery...I will still post small paintings between times! I bought  Julie Ford Oliver's fracturing technique  artbyte and will be trying that out as soon as I can too! Have a look at her fantastic work here.

Protea

Drawing #14
Pen and watercolor

Got my drawing done! My friend has these flowers growing in her garden and bought me a bunch...instead of painting the whole vase full  I did just one. Trying to do the whole lot would have taken too much time! Drawing daily is good until life becomes busy with a thousand and one things to do..so I'm keeping it simple and as long as I get one done everyday it's still good practice!

Coconut

Drawing #9
Pen and watercolor sketch

My drawing today...I have wanted to paint a coconut for a long time...this is a start!! I WILL paint this in oil, I love the different textures. I have so many ideas for drawings that I have made a list! I prefer to draw what inspires me on the day, but that does not always work!  Some drawings are harder than others and I will opt for a quicker one if  I am painting as well.

Lemons and Limes

Drawing#4
Pen and Watercolor Sketch

My drawing for today! I use lemons and limes a lot when I'm cooking...so always have a good supply on hand. I had these cut up on a plate but decided to draw them without it. I am giving myself 30-60 minutes to do a drawing each day, that way I can fit it around my daily painting and larger work!

New tool
I have just bought this handy MVP tool (Artists mirror, Value viewer and Planner) from Peggy Kroll Roberts. They are organized, easy to use and  are on a lanyard... you can hang them on your easel so you don't lose them!! Great idea....take a look here

The Little shag

Drawing#3
Pen and watercolor sketch

I had planned to paint today but my brain was completely out of gear! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!!! I eventually did this sketch of this little shag that was sitting on an old wharf pile. I have set a small goal with myself to do a drawing or sketch a day this year! Whether or not I do remains to be seen, but I will do my best! It's such good practice to improve my drawing skills and at the end of the year I should have a good collection and see an improvement!

Patty the Cockatiel

Drawing#1
Pen and watercolor sketch

Enjoying doing a few sketches....and thought I'd add a bit of  color as well.  We used to have two pet cockatiels a few years ago, one grey and one white named Patty...so clever and really fun birds to have around!  This sketch is a little looser than the previous oil one... I like pen and wash for that reason and will do more!
