Where's My Hairdresser?

6"x6" Oil on gessoboard

I had the title for this before I painted it! It was my first thought when I saw the woolly mess...she definitely needs a good wash and haircut!! Sheep aren't very colorful but I love painting them...I used a limited palette of  raw umber, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre and white for this.

Sweet As

6"x6" Oil on gessoboard
I knew I would find a use for these white cupcake papers one day! They have been sitting in the pantry for a long time...now and again I thought about baking some cupcakes but it never happened!! I always have a stash of sweets  so I piled some jellybeans  into one. I always love painting white and the way the colors  show through the paper made it even better!!

Kalamata Olives and Rosemary

6"x6" Oil on gessoboard

It has not been a great day for painting!!  A wiper...after spending precious time trying to get it to look good enough to post! Anyhow, I found this is one I did this one last year using my favorite white bowl, so today hasn't been a complete waste of time and tomorrow I will try again!!

On Guard

6"x6" Oil on board

I like the attitude of this gull...it looks like he is on guard! I am always taking photos of them when walking along the beach in the mornings, their behaviour amuses me!! I am halfway through a large one of four gulls and I forgot how much work is involved. Painting small is good practice but I started out painting large so it feels good to get back to it again!!

Marshmellows

6"x6" Oil on gessoboard

These marshmellows were left over from Christmas, I'm not sure where the blue plastic spoon came from... and the turquoise bowl is a favorite one of mine, given to me by an art friend. I am still having trouble with some images, I'm not sure if it's blogger or not but they seem darker when I upload them here! This looks much better in life!!

Mrs Moo

6"x6" oil on gessoboard

Time for a change again... I love the curls on the top of this cows head! The title of Mrs Moo came about because she actually had a calf beside her. I am trying to keep ahead with my small paintings until we are ready to move house, (no buyers yet) maybe now the holidays are over I can make headway!!
I have a bit more good news too...I have been invited to join Fifty Artists it is an online gallery offering small paintings for under $500 from a selected group of painters. I feel really fortunate I am able to show my work with them...so here's hoping there will be some sales!!

SOLD

Holidays over and back to painting!! These were the first lot of cherries I bought this season. I tried different set ups and ended up with the biggest one in the front...I made it a bit larger to add a bit of drama. I'm not sure why, but it reminded me of a stage with the leading lady out in front!!
I am so happy to say I am this weeks Daily Paintworks Spotlight  interview, it was a nice surprise, I never expected it!! A great start to 2014! You can read it here
