Bucket of Limes

Drawing #66
Graphite and pastel

More limes! This bucket is not a very big one and I had just enough limes to fill it. I hoped to post a painting today but yesterday all I had was a wiper...could not get it together at all...I hate it when that happens!!! I ended up trying out different mixes of colors, so It wasn't all bad!! I will post about them when I have finished.

Daisies and Limes

Drawing #65
Graphite and pastel

I have had a rest from painting this weekend, but still like to do some drawing! Both the limes and daisies are from my garden...an easy setup! It's nice when I don't have to look very far for subject matter and it's even better when I can use these delicious limes growing just outside my door!

Darning Needle

Drawing #64
Graphite and pastel

Another quick drawing  ...no painting today! If I don't start painting early enough my light is not that good on dark winter days so I do other art related things. I have forgotten what darning needles are for these days!! I wonder if anyone uses them now.

A short post today! I am busy with a few flower paintings at different stages.
A drawing of my new brushes I bought when I was on holiday in Australia! The black one is a Neef, it's a little more expensive and is my favorite. The other two are Isabey...nice to paint with as well!

Lunchtime

Drawing #61
Graphite and pastel

My lunch today! I was about to eat this boiled egg... it looked so good with the silver spoon and eggcup, I set it up so I could draw it first. It was cold by the time I finished so I had to boil another one!  The things I do for the sake of art!!!

Dreadlocks

Drawing #60
Graphite and watercolor

Here are the dreadlocks! I had a good time drawing this one, I have always been fascinated with dreadlocks... not sure why. I think drawing them would be easier than growing them. From tomorrow I am taking part in Leslie Saeta's 30 Marketing Ideas in 30 Days, I will do what I can to keep up with it each day!! I have to paint first!

Another drawing of hair...this time with a beanie! I love black and white with some color added and had some fun with the beanie! I am still on holiday and this was done before I left. I will be drawing more hair, it is a real challenge and I'm enjoying it...I think there is a little mystery not seeing the face and I like that!!

Tea Break

Drawing #54
Graphite and pastel

I am still drawing every day but on days when I post my paintings I have decided not to add a drawing. I will add them on my facebook art page...they will all get posted one way or another!
I did this yesterday, I had another of THOSE days when painting wasn't going the way I wanted. I ended up throwing in the towell and having a tea break!!

Time Out

Drawing #52
Graphite and pastel

We had beautiful warm weather at Easter and this girl took advantage of  it!  She was taking time out lying in the sun on the Estuary reserve across the road from my place. The light on her hair and the empty coke bottle caught my attention...I loved drawing this and I think I will end up painting it in oil!!

Pink Ribbon and Lace

Drawing #51
Graphite and Gouache

I like drawing  head studies in black and white...especially the backview! When I did my drawing diploma I always enjoyed drawing texture and still do. It's good to just pick up a pencil and paper..not having to clean brushes and palette...keeping it simple!!

Kitchen Glasses

Drawing #43
Graphite and Pastel

Two of my kitchen glasses I have had for about 10 years,  I started out with six and there are now three left! I like the fruit design on them... and because they've been hanging out in the kitchen for such a long time they deserve to be remembered!! Not much painting done this week! I have started three small 6x6 and  hope to get one finished tomorrow!!

Needles and Thread

Drawing #40
Graphite and Gouache

Well I thought I would do a quick drawing today because I was short on time....big mistake!! Even though I took a photo of my bigger needles, enlarged them on my moniter and drew from that, these were not easy. It's  easier to get the shiny look of steel with paint, another good exercise! I can't believe I have done 40 drawings...still a long way to go!

Mini Dahlia

Drawing #37
Graphite and Pastel

I wasn't sure if I wanted to color the petals on this dahlia...after thinking more about it I left it and just added a little in the centre. The petals are so small it would have made life difficult so I took the easy way out!! I have  three paintings blocked in...final stage on one tomorrow..things are looking up! I have had a week of  odd jobs that had to be finished and unfortunately I don't have any maids here to do them!!
