This Port pipe was gifted to me from my cousin when I left Australia. Port is a favorite drink of mine so paired with cheese and cherries it makes a great subject to paint! Not that easy and a bit time consuming but a good challenge!
Avocado and pepper from the Farmers Market...more food I love and so delicious together!
I have gone back to painting with oils, I gave the water soluble ones a try because of not having to use solvents but I have found I can use ordinary oils without solvent. I use an odourless medium and clean brushes with sunflower oil. Super easy!!
My snack! I was at a loss for something to paint and spent half the morning setting up different subjects. I was frustrated and about to give up ...then looked at my salami cracker snack, added a couple of olives and here it is! I had make another one to eat!!
I am happy to have finished the paintings for my 2016 food calendar early this year!!I am usually rushing at the last minute. I will post more about when they will be on sale later.
Even though I enjoy painting food, I am pleased to be able to get on to other subjects!!
Last food painting for my 2016 Calendar!!These tamarillos had a lovely rich deep red color, they almost looked too good to eat!
I have been painting new work this last week and it's nice to be painting other subjects again...a rose painting is nearly finished, a few flower paintings blocked in and a small landscape started...not bad for a weeks work!! Hope I can keep the pace going!
Love painting bell peppers...yellow is still a tricky color for me. Another food one finished for my 2017 Calendar! Commission finished...I am on track and can't wait to start flowers as well as a 16x8in landscape. There will be a bit of multitasking going on here!!
This is another favorite fruit of mine...these grow in my garden! Not easy to paint, but I had to try!! This is number 10 of my paintings done for my 2017 food calendar, when they are done and because spring is coming up I think I'll be doing flowers!
My 6 paintings for a group exhibition! X-tra – the Local Art Exhibition & Sale, combines the work of both established and emerging Hawke’s Bay artists June 17th - July 7th at Creative Arts Napier. Opening night on the Saturday18th! Fun night!!
This is one of six food paintings for a small exhibition I am taking part in this month....I love the crunch and flavor of these pears and of course green is one of my favorite colors!!
I know he was looking for food... but... it looked like he was looking in the mirror!! I have one more gull painting to go to finish off this little series!
I couldn't resist this green tea lamington cake covered in coconut...as soon as I saw it in the shop, I bought it, painted it...then ate it!! It was so delicious with a cream filling! This is the last food painting for now, I have flowers on my mind and one or two other things!
I'm back from my holiday and enjoyed every minute of it, I wish my family lived closer!
My 2016 wall calendar is finished and is another food one...just right for the kitchen!! It is available for $20+$6 shipping. I have a limited number of them and if you would like to order one you can leave a comment here, email me karenpmj@gmail.com or message me on facebook. Thanks for stopping by!
Two of my favorite flavours in food... the limes are off my tree! I have painted garlic before and I'm amazed at how different the color of the outer skin can vary, some are nearly white, others are pink/violet and these are an ochre color. It doesn't seem to affect the flavour!
My calendar will feature food again this year and I haven't quite finished twelve so I will have another few food paintings coming up in the next few weeks.
My calendar for 2015!! "Fun with Food Paintings" I DID have fun setting up and painting these! I have not
ordered a big amount because I'm not sure how many will sell. If
you would like to buy one, you can email me and I will send you a paypal invoice.
First
time I have ever grown limes and these are the first picked... and there are plenty more!! I love
Thai food and use these two ingredients all the time...love the flavour
and the colors!!!
Orange and banana make a nice fruit salad... this was part of my lunch today, nice and healthy! It's not always as good as this, some days I feel like a bit of junk food...and I have it!! The thing I like about drawing daily is... I can have a go at anything, don't have to spend as much time setting up and I can still work on paintings while improving my skills!
I am still on the food trail! I bought these heirloom tomatoes at the Farmers Market and after searching for something to set them up with, I spied this brushed silver tin in my studio that has a lavender scented candle inside....that was it!! I liked the grey tones with just a little color.
More food... I think by now you can tell I love all of it! There is always so much to choose from at the Farmers Market, all the colors look so nice,I can't help myself I just have to buy it...but I love to paint it first!
Olives and brie... more of my favourite food for this weeks DPW challenge. I had this set up ready to paint when I found out what the challenge was...perfect timing!
