Still painting buttons! I found this old dice while I was clearing out a drawer and it reminded me of playing board games when I was young, so made use of the buttons before I put them away!

The last one in this thread series!  I have had this very big button for a long time and have painted it before...actually I bought it to paint!!  Painting the buttons in this series has been good practice for ellipses, still not sure if I have got it right though!!

Spoonbill

The birds have taken over again! This is the first painting of three... the next in line is a goose. I never get tired of painting these spoonbills, they are so elegant the way they wade in the shallow water. This one stood knee deep in the water while I snapped the photo... I love them!

I found these gumnuts on one of the Eucalyptus trees when I was on my morning walk around the Estuary. My plans of what I was going to paint changed!! It is great finding a subject when you least expect it!

I Love My Dreads

Back to sheep again! Often something special about them stands out...it could be their coat or their eyes...this time it was the dreads I loved and no hairdresser needed either!! I enjoy painting these animals they are so gentle!

This one almost painted itself, I love it when that happens!

Another one in this small Estuary series! I have had a really mucked up week...wiped one off and another went in the bin. I like to challenge myself and keep learning but this time it went to a new level of frustration! I haven't painted many rocks and I tried to create the atmosphere there was on this morning as well...probably too much to try in one painting. I'm not sure I have done too well but here it is!!!

These Oystercatchers can run!!! I have been trying to get photos of them for a long time, I love their bright red beaks and legs.... I don't see them often and they move very fast. It was pure luck I managed to get one decent photo out of about 20... all the rest were blurred!! I loved painting this!
I will be away for a few days holiday...then there will be a few more birds.

Poor girl is in need of a haircut! This was a bit of fun, I love painting close ups of animals, especially sheep and cows. The trick is to get a photo with the right expression which means taking lots of photos!!  I loved the shaggy wool on this girl.

Great end to this Year

I received some amazing news a few days ago. These twelve paintings sold to one buyer and he bought the board I had them displayed on as well!! I very much appreciate all the people that have bought my work and the lovely space at  Creative Arts Napier where I show my work!! It is a wonderful end to this year and  times like this really help me to stay inspired and keep painting...so

I think I could still have one last painting before the end of the year!!

Winter Rose

Time for a change!!  I have two winter roses growing in my garden, they are so delicate...one is pink but my favorite is this green one.  I like being able to  pick a flower whenever I pass by  to stick in a jar or bottle and place in my studio.... often this leads to a painting like this one did. Keeping things simple...just the way I like it!!

This is Harper...my friends granddaughter.  I love the happiness of this shot, she is such a sweet little girl! I was out of my comfort zone with this one but still enjoyed painting it and it was good to loosen up a little!

I couldn't resist this green tea lamington cake covered in coconut...as soon as I saw it in the shop, I bought it, painted it...then ate it!! It was so delicious with a cream filling! This is the last food painting for now, I have flowers on my mind and one or two other things!

My painting has been on the backburner for the last few months. We moved house last year and have only just finished renovating! This is a recap of my paintings in January...all four of them!! Two have sold, so it's not all bad! I will be painting bigger over the next few months for an exhibition later in the year....I love painting my small ones and they have become  an important part of my daily life so I will still fit them in as time permits!!
