Class Photo

Our class photo at Colley Whisson's workshop!! This is the very happy bunch of people I met and painted with for 5 days...what an experience! I loved every minute of it and Colley is a great teacher, I had a lot of fun as well as learning heaps...now all I have to do is put it into practice!! Three important things that stuck in my mind...darker darks, bigger brushes and don't overwork!

Window Cleaner

8"x6" Oil on gessoboard
$90 with display easel
 Ordinary People

This guy cleaning windows was actually up on a hydraulic lift, so it was a great opportunity for a photo! I have been carrying my camera everywhere with me since I decided on the theme of ordinary people. There are subjects everywhere that I probably would not have have noticed before...great fun! The colors in this are not very good it seems to be too blue...this is the best I could get it!!

Sunday Morning Walk

8"x6" Oil on gessoboard
$90 with display easel

Ordinary People

This painting is the first of my 30 in 30 for the Leslie Saeta Challenge. My theme is Ordinary People...I have been out with my camera taking lots of photos for reference and have been lucky to be able to use  some images from  talented photographer Jules! I saw this man out walking his dog and loved the fact that even though he had to use a mobility aid, he still went for a walk!!
I will try to  to finish one every day even though my house is in the middle of renovations...here's hoping!!!

Along the Pathway

7"x 5 1/2" Oil on Canson Paper
I had been practicing drawing  figures before the 30/30 challenge and bought some canson oil paper to try some oil sketches....this one ended up far more detailed than I wanted!!  Now I have a bit more time I'm going to continue doing them as well as painting...some are done with pencil, some painted like the one above and others are pen and wash. With time hopefully I will loosen up and improve!!
We have a seaside  pathway around the coastline of our city...this section of it is not far from where I live. It's a good place to sit, sketch and photograph all the people that walk by...maybe good for a series!

Waiting

Day Nineteen- 30 paintings in 30 Days

I  came across the small girl waiting for her brother to catch up with her while they were out walking with their Father one Sunday morning. It was the blue dress that caught my eye and gave me a reason  to paint something other than landscapes or still life....perfect for this challenge too! I have been doing pencil drawings of people for the last couple of months and enjoy it so why not paint them!!

First Out Fishing

6"x6" Oil on board
$85+s/h

Another morning watching the boats heading out for a days fishing... it's a quiet peaceful time of the day, not many people around other than the fishermen... I love it! They start early in the morning and I think they must have a race to see who can get to the best fishing spot!
