Brush Off

6"x6" oil on gessoboard
These old worn paint brushes had been given the 'brush off' a long time ago. They have been well used over the years and sitting around  the studio, but before I get rid of them I thought they deserved to be painted! I used water soluble oils for this and I am gradually getting used to them. They seem to be more transparent then regular oils and very intense colors so it's just a matter of being a bit more focused when I mix my colors. I think I will stay with them!!

Ordinary People

This is another one of the ladies in the art group I go to each week! I kept it simple and left out the table  where she kept her paints and palette. I was running out of time and it was just too much detail for a painting this small!!

Ordinary People

I'm a bit late posting this, I ran out of light to take a photo. These two ladies discussing this work are from a lovely art group I paint with every week. It's always nice to get out among like minded people instead of being stuck away in a studio!

New Paint

Drawing #26
Graphite and Pastel

I bought some new tubes of acrylic paint last week. I love this cadmium red... and opening the new ones before they become all messed up, the paint flows out freely!  I use oils more now but thought I may try these with graphite too. Five more days and I have been daily drawing for a month...it is not as easy as I thought, simply because I still have to be inspired to draw what I like and not just anything!!  I have many more to go and hope to keep up with it!!
