Izzy Dressed for Deco

6"x6" Oil on gessoboard

It is our annual Art Deco festival here this week where we travel back in time to an era of glitz and glamour. Everyone dresses in the styles of the 1920s and 30s. Last year I saw this Chihuahua all dressed up with her big gold bow...she was so cute and such a poser, I couldn't help myself, I had to take a photo so I could paint her for this years celebrations!!

Small Change

Drawing #35
Graphite and Pastel

I have this small jar that I keep my small change in. I don't think there has ever been much more in it than this...and certainly never many gold coins! I always need change for parking meters...I'm pretty sure that's where most of it goes!! While there is one or two gold ones in it I thought it would add a bit of color. Drawing the coins gave me grief because of the different angles they are on...not recommended if you want to do a quick drawing!!

Summer Color

8"x10" Oil on canvas

I could not decide what to paint today! I had already started this one a while ago so went with finishing it. This is part of the Estuary and in summer when the grass turns gold, the colors seem very bright...I love these trees that are scattered every where....always good to paint them!

 My drawing today #7

Deco Style...Pen and watercolor.  We are celebrating Art Deco here this week where everyone dresses up in the style of the 20's and 30's. I used to paint a lot of  art deco paintings on silk before I started oils...this was done from a photo!
