I bought a box of cherries a couple of weeks ago...the first lot this season, they are my favourite fruit, (especially with chocolate) but before I ate them all I chose these three to paint. With the ribbon on I think they look like Christmas!

Up Close and Personal

6"x6" Oil on board
SOLD

I'm not sure what was on this steers  mind... but I think he wanted his photo taken! He came up close when he saw me with my camera  and would 'not' move out of my way while I was trying to take photos, he just stood and posed...I loved the curly hair, so here he is!!

Christmas Apple

6"x6" Oil on board
I know it's not even December yet...but when I tied the ribbon on this it reminded me of the small red apple decorations I put on our Christmas tree every year!
This is for 'an apple a day'  art project  Michel Oosterhout  has started on his website to  see who he can reach and where the apples come from. The goal is 365, one for each day.

Bad Hair Day

6"x6" Oil on board

I couldn't resist painting this! Reminds me of  the days when my hair won't go right. I love that annoyed look in her eye.... and getting caught on camera wouldn't help!!

Wetland Grass

$85+$20s/h
This wetland grass grows in different parts of the estuary and these two clumps stand alone in a big area of water. Some days they look green/blue and other days they are more golden, depending on the time of day, or when the tide is out.
This could be a forerunner for a larger painting in my Estuary series that I am working on...time will tell!

Royal Spoonbill

6"x6" Oil on board
$85.00

I am back after a great holiday with my family in Australia and ready to paint again... this one was painted before I left. I have been waiting quite a long time to see a spoonbill...these birds wade around looking for food in the Estuary across the road.

Days Work Done

Oil on board 6"x8"
SOLD

Another boat...came upon this one afternoon and liked the color, I probably won't be painting any more boats in this size, I seem to get too caught up in detail and it drives me crazy! I thought I'd have a change from landscapes and flowers but it didn't quite work.
I am going on holiday tomorrow and have been  painting  to try and keep ahead (that hasn't quite worked either!)  life gets so busy....hoping to take lots of photos while I'm away!! I will be back here in ten days.

In Port for the Day

6"x8" oil on board
SOLD
I have seen this boat tied up here a few times and often thought about painting it...this morning it was early, not many people were around so I was able to get a good photo and some sketches. I was pleased with this view because it can  be difficult to get a good composition of a boat when they're in this harbor.

Heading Out

8"x6" Oil on board
A nice morning for fishing! I grew up around this area and love the smell of the salt water as I walk along the wharf watching the boats head out, I was a bit late this morning and most of the other boats had already gone when I saw this one on  its way up the channel.

Autumn Remnant

6"x6" Oil on Board
$85.00

The challenge painting on Daily Paintworks this week is about autumn, I had this small branch of leaves in my studio for a couple of weeks at the end of autumn, (it's spring here now)  because I never had time to paint it  I took a photo... and this is it! I  toned the board first with a pink/orange color then went over it with grey. There are quite a few subtle value changes in the leaves so it really was a challenge!

Shy Beauty

6"x6" Oil on board

I have this Lenten Rose growing in a pot in my garden, their heads bow gracefully and they almost look shy, but they brighten up a dull day with their flowers in colours of rose, purple, green and white.

Morning Sunshine

6"x8" Oil on canvas board

Another nice sunny morning at Westshore beach looking out at the Pacific Ocean, this is the south end of the beach where there are lots of rocks and a reef when the local surfers go.

Westshore Beach

6"x8" Oil on canvas panel
$85.00

This beach is about 5 minutes walk from where I live, I loved the atmosphere of the misty cloud still hanging over the Port and hills. It was mid-morning and I was walking the dog... I had to race home and grab my camera  before it disappeared.

Estuary Stream

6"x8" Oil on canvas panel
$85.00
This is from one of my early morning Estuary walks this winter, I pass this stream quite often but it was a bit earlier than usual. The mist had lifted but there was still a haze over the hills. I like this time of day, it's so quiet and not many people around....very peaceful.

Slice of Light

Slice of Light
8x6in oil on canvas panel

These trees are around the Estuary walkway across the road from where I live, this was in the morning when the sun was bright and there are these slices of light from the sun peeking through.
